The Aubechies Archeosite offers you a journey 5000 years into our past. It is a true open-air museum, portraying the lives of the different peoples who have lived one after another here in our region through various different reconstructions which draw on the results of numerous archaeological digs.
Prehistoric times are illustrated by living environments ranging from the Neolithic Era and the Bronze Age to the Second Iron Age. After stopping off at a Gallic house, you will also have the opportunity to explore the Gallo-Roman period, which is represented by a temple, a necropolis, a villa and a barge (a flat-bottomed boat).
The site is brought to life with demonstrations by the craftsmen held on Sundays and public holidays from mid-April to mid-October. On 26th and 27th June, the Archeosite organises its own holiday weekend, “The Fires of Beltaine”.
The 28th and 29th August are devoted to experimental archaeology.
